One week from today, men will be piling into vehicles and driving to Western Maryland, for a retreat in the mountains. Some might be asking why would you ask men to drive 550 miles and meet for such a short stint?
Plain and simple they come back radically changed. All the facades come off, and the real man is exposed and he must deal with that person. Adventure, competition, teamwork, weaknesses and strengths are exposed, a disconnect from technology, quiet times in nature, brokenness, creativity, laughter, 20 ft bonfires, sleeping under the stars, and meeting God away from the hectic lifestyles of everyday life.
Some looking at the picture above of me floating across the muck-infested water have no concept as to why we would do such a thing. Yet for men who were part of the weekend, it will conjure up a vivid memory of me sinking my float, and totally understand why. It began in the outback for Adam and in most men there is a craving to get back there too!
Can't wait to meet God on the Mountaintop!
