no more almost

There are moments in our lives that we will never forget. Today was one of those days for me. We are preaching through the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus cuts straight to the chase with one's eternal condition in Matthew 7:13-23.

He lays it out and says that there are two ways, two doors, good fruit, bad fruit and a day of reckoning on the horizon. He tells us that many will think that they have what it takes to cross over into eternity with Jesus, but only a few will make it.

They will hear those most dreaded words any human being could ever hear "depart from me I never knew you." At that moment all the reasons as to why they think they have met the standard will rush from their mouths.

Many people in this life look like Jesus followers from a distance. They have external characteristics of Christians but once you examine the heart closely they aren't any better off then a mud pie.

They are not any better off then a piece of fruit that has been duct taped to an apple tree. It looks good for a while yet it does not have the nutrients and heart of the tree and it is bad fruit. You see, there must be evidence in our lives that Jesus lives in us. There should be a  distinct difference between a genuine Christ Follower then someone who is not a follower of Jesus.

So today many, many, many removed their names from the "almost" list and trusted in Jesus and nothing else! I will never forget as I watched people walk to the bottom of the mountain and surrender all to Jesus!

no more Almost... Praise the Lord!
