Way before the opening jump ball that happens in every game...
Way before the captains line up from each team and hear from the referees...
The game is won!
Jon Gordon in his book Training Camp, says a win begins in the mind! We must believe it in our hearts, and see it in our minds, before we can execute it. I firmly believe that is the case for any achievement in life.
No, I'm not talking about overlooking your opponent, but a confidence that it can be done. Way too many people lose before the opening tip is ever tossed, because they think a win isn't possible. So I ask you to reconsider your mindset today, before that business deal, that family issue, that interview, or that big game.
The defining element that helps the best get better, begins in the mind! Anyone agree out there?

I always remember an old saying a trainer used to use, "the body can't go where the mind has not already been." I think it says a lot about what is necessary to succeed.
I’m reminded of watching Lindsey Vonn just before her gold medal run last week. They showed her preparing, before she even put on her skis, she was standing at the top of the hill, eyes closed, and skiing her run. Then she went out and did exactly what she imagined. With the Olympics on right now, you don’t have to look very far to see this in practice first hand.
Great stuff!
