Level the playing field

For the first time in 11 years I wore a suit to preach in. Why? We are working our way through the book of James and looked at the 2nd chapter, where he addresses favoritism.
You should have seen the looks on the faces of people as I walked out reading this passage. They have never seen me in a suit. And the only time I wear one is for a wedding or funeral.
But, the point is this, we should not treat people differently based upon how they are dressed.

But we have all these formed opinions in our minds of people, as soon as they walk into our presence. Even the way one wears his hat, can cause us to judge them.
James encouraged us to help someone out who can't help you back. Surround yourself with people that are different than you.
James closed up this passage by saying this, Mercy Triumphs over judgment!
Remember this today, the time, effort, and resources that we spend judging others, will be the amount we receive from God when we stand before him. I trust you are letting Mercy ooze from you today!
