take the detour

We will deal with temptations the rest of our lives. With that in mind we must develop strategies to overcome them. The Bible is loaded with passages on how to do this. We can flee, we can stand and resist, we can replace and renew our thoughts, and many other things.

Yet, God tells us that he provides a way out of them. He provides a detour route around them. As I said on Sunday, this route can be frustrating, take us out of the way, cost us more, and seem unappealing to us. Yet it is our escape route.

If we do not take the detour, we will end up like this little fellow here on the fly trap, that refused to take the detour.

1Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will provide a way out so that you can stand up under it!
