While running this morning I ran by this tree and caught the glimpse of some eyes. As I turned around to look again I noticed a raccoon just hanging out. So I made a u-turn and slowly worked my way back to the tree trying not to disturb the little fellow.
As I got closer we just locked eyes and it seemed like an eternity as we both just stood there motionless. I pulled out my phone and snapped off a picture. It was interesting what happened next. He just turned around and buried his head into the base of the tree as if to say, leave me alone.
Maybe he just wanted some time alone. In that moment I understood the little fellow because that was what I needed this morning as I ran through the woods... time alone with God.
