Just Pray

I must have prayed a zillion prayers in my life. I pray about everything. Every morning I pray through the Spiritual Armor. I pray that I will not be led into temptation and God will deliver me from evil. I pray for my family. I pray for my church, I prayed for my son last night as he was shooting free-throws. I prayed with oil on the head of a beautiful little boy, a few weeks back. I pray when I am in conversation with someone, asking God for wisdom. I pray for safe travel. I pray for the lost. I pray for marriages, relationships, and people! I pray for equipment that doesn't work, and tech problems on Sunday. I pray against the attacks of Satan.

I pray alone, in small groups, and large groups. Prayer bleeds from me all day long. Even now the Spirit just brought a few individuals to mind that I am praying for right now.

I wonder how the prayers that I have offered, have made a difference in our world? I wonder if the last minute prayers I have offered up, along the way, have turned the tide for an individual, business, or marriage?

Well, in 2001, we had a terrorist attack on our country. New York City felt the brunt of it, head on. A few months after the attack on the twin towers, I found myself looking at the carnage left over from the attack. While I was there , I noticed a wall that was dedicated to the lost. On this wall were all kinds of words, articles, and memories left behind. So I left this card of mine there, and I prayed for the lost, the least, and the future. I wonder if that prayer kept us safe, healed a heart, or gave someone hope? Go pray right now, it does make a difference, even if it is offered on a dark street, when no one sees you, but God!

Jim - Thanks for your "Just Pray" blog. To many times I find myself totally absorbed in everything except Jesus (work, kids, athletic events, school.... the list goes on and on) and if I'm really and truely honest, Jusus has been an after thought at the end of a busy day. I hope I am the exception and not the rule, however, I bet there are alot of people like me out there. Take care and keep up the encouragement in your blogs -- they do not go unoticed.

I believe my grandmother prayed me right into the arms of Jesus. And I can't wait to tell her that when I get to heaven!!!

Thanks Jim for leading by example.

Pastor Jim,
God used that business card with the writing, husband, father, pastor to lead Eric and I to Grace Seminary. I can honestly say, my husband has that wonderful balance of being a loving husband, servant father, and caring shepherd to the people that God has brought into our lives. Thanks for your impact on my husband, from a wife who is eternally grateful.
I am sure you prayed for us too!
