Draft

Today we had our draft. As a family we often collect golf balls that are sliced off a nearby golf course. We walk through the rough and pick them up. We came home with 54 the other night, and Isaiah said "Dad lets have a draft."

So we lined all the balls up and took turns drafting them as our own. We drafted for Josh as he was away. It was fun to pick between Nike, Titleist, Calloway, TopFlite and the rest.
I found myself reflecting back to the sandlot baseball games as kid when we would pick teams. When there was that guy left that was the last one drafted. He stood there talking to his face, and trying to make it look like it didn't bother him. But often the pain was too much to hide.

I wonder how God drafted us before the foundation of the world, and called us to be on his team?

Was it random? Was it calculated? Seriously, think about that for a second. He is the creator of mankind, so he didn't make any mistakes with his creations. So why choose one person over another to be on his team?

Well here is what I do know. I am grateful even if I was the last pick. Because I am equipped with the same supernatural ability as the first pick. Thanks God for choosing me. Oh yeah, the Nike Juice that I covered with my hand so Isaiah didn't pick it first, is laying in the bottom of a pond at Timber Ridge! So much for that pick!

an added thought . . . God chose the entirety of His people all at once. He chose that His Son would have a wife (Israel, the wife of God, plus the Church, the bride of Christ, both in fact one in eternity to come). The whole is greater than the sum of its individual parts. Divine election started with God's desired end result, that is, He "began with the end in mind" (all good leadership principles go back to Him!). So, the first will be last and the last will be first, because we are one in Him!
